Trilium Language Centre – Intermediate Level

Intermediate Level (Grade 4-7)

Trillium Language Centre

The Intermediate level at Trillium Language Centre is designed to strengthen and expand students’ English language skills by building on their foundational knowledge. Grammar instruction becomes more structured and in-depth, with focused teaching using L.R.H. Chapman’s Grammar and Exercise Books, enabling students to develop accuracy and confidence in language use.

Reading skills are taken to the next level through novel reading and advanced reading comprehension, encouraging deeper understanding, interpretation, and critical thinking. Speaking fluency continues to be developed through guided practice, with students progressing to higher-level IWMS spoken elocution examinations (from Grade Two onwards), along with basic presentations and speech activities to enhance confidence and expression.

Writing skills are further refined through answer writing, dictation, revision papers, worksheets, and grammar-based exercises. Students are also introduced to paragraph writing, introductory essays, and letter writing, alongside written examinations for Grades Two, Three, and Four, ensuring balanced development across all language skills.
